Focus doesn’t mean working on complicated projects for long periods, it means doing something radically simple and then complexifying if and only if it solves a core human need.
Focus means knowing what you want, and having a concrete plan to get there in a specific order.
A successful app’s strategy needs to be focused on marketing, onboarding, value creation, and virality, in that order.
Downloads → Initial usage → Retention → Growth Now rinse and repeat 50 times.
Once you solve each step, you go back to the beginning and increase the numbers at each step successively.
If you’re getting a constant influx of downloads, then work on your onboarding. Once you’ve solved onboarding, focus on getting users to retain. Once users retain, focus on getting them to increase users.
If you’re not growing, users are dropping off somewhere.
